Longest Poem in the World
You all know how I feel about Twitter - mostly I love it (despite being inundated by the masses now).
Someone has done something really cool, and started a poem based on Twitter posts that rhyme. The coolest part is that these tweets are gathered from the Twitter stream, so the rhymes are completely unrelated - but somehow they work. Each line of the poem provides a link back to the original tweet.
It looks like it's done automatically, because some of the rhymes include emoticons (as in the word "Wheee!" rhyming with :P. But no matter, this is still some of the coolest stuff I've seen.
Remarkably, it's done in real time, so the poem grows by roughly 4000 verses a day, according to the web site. What's more interesting, to me, is that the rhymes are in real time - which means for many tweets, there's one that rhymes within seconds. Statistically this may not be a big deal, but it's pretty amazing when you think about it. Upon doing a little research, it seems that both lines of the rhyme are not in real time - but at least one is. Ah well, it's still amazing.
