Online Drawing Game for Kids
It's been awhile since I wrote about any real kids' gadgets, mostly because the best ones are for children older than mine. But, today David Cohen wrote about one that I know Little E will love. It's called Kerpoof and it's an online drawing game.
Lots of sites have this sort of thing; I know the Disney sites do, as well as the Wiggles. But Little E is growing tired of just colouring things in; he likes to create his own scenes. That's what Kerpoof does. There are several "scenes" to choose from, and once a scene is chosen, say, a beach scene, there are several items that can be dragged onto the image and placed where ever the user likes (even if it doesn't make sense). These images can be resized to suit the user as well, so even making the same picture over and over again will be different.
The images can be saved and printed, which is also pretty cool. There's no printer hooked up to Little E's computer, but I'm going to have to do that soon (we have a spare printer - surprise! - but nowhere to put it where the computer is). He often wants to print out the things he's coloured in online, and my machine never seems to be on when he's printing so he can't just send it to my printer.
Kerpoof is also free, but they say that eventually they may add some features that are paid-for. As far as I'm concerned, what they've got right now is pretty cool. The site is paid-for by advertising, but in my few minutes of poking around, I didn't see any. They have apparently tried to incorporate it into the drawing game, so they are less intrusive. As far as I can tell, they've done an excellent job!
I'll have to let Little E play with it this evening and let you all know how he liked it.

I was playing around with Kerpoof and I had this thought, "Hey, why don't they make something like this for kids!"
