USB Shaver
I've seen all kinds of gadgets over the years. Most were useful (for someone), many were strange. I guess this one falls into both categories! It's a USB-charged electric razor. I'm sure there's a time when I'll need one of these; I've already got one of those jobs where the razor and the shaving cream is integrated together (and I don't care much for it because I have sensitive skin). I also have an electric razor that I've had for about 15 years (oh, more than that actually), which still works great. Of course, it has to be plugged in. I never use either of these items except on a trip; at home, I use an old-fashioned disposable razor and shaving cream!
I could see my husband using this back when he first started his software developer career, though (and maybe me, too). He spent long hours at work (60+ hour weeks), and I guess if he wanted to go out on a date after work he could have done a quick touch-up or something. Or, God forbid, if he spent the night at the office, he'd have had a way to clean up (this was long before we met, so it didn't affect me at all). I know a lot of software companies went through that whole "spend your life at work" thing, but I think they've slacked off a little bit (although I've been out of the game for about four years so perhaps not).
I guess this would be a cool gadget to take on a business trip...but you'd still have to pack it so maybe not (does it go in the suitcase or the briefcase?). At least you wouldn't have to worry about whether or not the battery is charged before you left home...unless you forgot/didn't bring your computer! It's rare that we go anywhere without a computer these days, though. I think the only time we don't bring one is when we go to Disney World (3-4 times a year - the joys of living four hours away!). But I don't see us worrying about whether or not we have the computer just so David can shave. Then again, if they make a lady's version of it, it might be worth it!
